Cabopino is a fast, close course set on hilly terrain between Marbella and Fuengirola that measures just under 5,600 yards. The course was designed by little-known Spanish architect Juan Ligues Creus and opened for play in 2001, making it a relative newcomer to the Costa del Sol golf circuit.
At Cabopino, course preparation is crucial, but smart golfers can leave the driver at home and practice their iron play ahead of time. fairways are short, but greens are sensitive to correctly hit approach shots.
The 3rd hole, a downhill 307-yard low par four that tempts big hitters to go for the green in one while avoiding the wide bunker in front of the elevated putting surface, is the best hole on the course.
The course's only two par fives are found on the painfully doglegged 12th and the uphill 14th holes; however, forget about future birdies because the arduous layout of these holes makes a five on the scorecard sound like a set of fours!
