El Paraiso

Spain

El paraiso, one of the more known courses on the costa del sol, was designed by âĢľblack knightâĢĿ gary player and renowned architect ron kirby in the early 1970s, back when they were in a course design collaboration.

The 18 holes are located in a valley that stretches from the mediterranean to the sierra bermaja mountains' foothills, lined with palm trees and a variety of fauna such as oleander and jacaranda. Water threats, such as lakes and waterways, can be found on multiple holes, bringing both fun and possible discomfort to the game!

The course is just over 6,600 yards long with a score of 71, and the holes are divided into two nine-hole circuits that both lead to a rustic clubhouse made from a variety of old casitas, giving it a warm and inviting feel.

The par five, doglegged 6th hole, where a lake must be stopped on the right side of the fairway and the putting surface is a tricky two-tiered affair, is considered el paraiso's signature hole. The enticing, downhill par four 8th hole, on the other hand, is ranked much higher by many because of its stylish fairway and greenside bunkers.
