Emporda (Forest)

Spain

Emporda golf club is situated on the north eastern coast of spain, just north of barcelona. It was the brainchild of a group of catalan businessmen who came together in 1988 to design the construction of a high-end golf course. They bought 125 hectares of land and had their first nine ready to go within a few years. They entrusted the task to robert von haage, a texan architect.

Emporda currently has four nine-hole loops (formerly known as the blue, green, black, and red), which have been merged to create two separate courses known as the forest and the links. Both courses are excellent, but the forest beats out the links by a lip, owing solely to the suspense provided by a glorious woodland of umbrella pines.

These pine-flanked holes in emporda are among the most beautiful in all of spain, and the forest is a must-play site with some brazen bunkering, a sprinkling of water, and several elevated greens.
